How to attract your audience through storytelling

Storytelling has existed as an art form for as long as humankind has been alive. We passed history to other generations through stories. Stories gave us lessons. Stories entertained us. We connect and feel a sense of belonging through stories. Stories have the power to evoke and provoke emotions.

Growing up I loved hearing and reading stories. I could be transported through stories to places in the past, faraway places, made-up worlds and into imagined future worlds. Even now stories help me to see the world, make sense of it and understand the point of view of others.

This is not so much a manual for attracting your audience as it is for me to put my thoughts into words, self-discover and let others into the "behind the scenes" of building Decision Monday. As a small business owner, I myself am on a journey and I have the power to take others on an authentic journey of entrepreneurship with me, as you all are capable of doing with your own stories.

In my previous blog post I wrote about purpose, finding it and living to that purpose. I need to speak about and "storytell" about my purpose so my audience can find me, resonate and connect with my messages. It might feel clumsy at first, but this is what happens when we decide to learn a new skill. We need to practise the new skill many times. We may not feel that we are making progress at first. Gradually.... Everything in its time....

We each have a story of our own to tell. As I listen to others tell theirs, I am encouraged to share mine. Join me on my journey in building and bringing Decision Monday to life.
